Our youngest swimmers currently compete in Division 2 of the Belfast Telegraph sponsored ‘Teletot’ league. Swimmers from the ages of 8 to 11 take part in a series of galas each lasting approximately 1 hr 15 mins. Although they are competitive events, many people agree that enjoyment and fun is still important, as these young swimmers take to the water. Galas take place from December through to April or May with swimmers divided into four age groups, A to D. There are six events beginning with Medley Relay, moving on to Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle, and finishing with the exciting Freestyle Relay. Swimmers swim one 25m length of the pool in each individual stroke. ‘Teletot’ galas are always enjoyable, with plenty of vocal support from all those watching.
