Teletots defeat Ballymena!

Our 'Teletot' squad proved too strong for Ballymena who were taken completely by surprise by the strength of the young swimmers. The final score was Portadown 244 Ballymena 156. Congratulations to all who took part but a special word of praise to the 'A' group of boys and girls who are beginning to show what they can do. The fact that several of these swimmers are now attending extra sessions has helped a lot in developing their strokes. The more you practice - the better you get! A quick word to members of 'B' 'C' and 'D' groups - great to see several straight 1,2,3, finishes for Portadown! Two out of two, well done everyone.

PTL Gala V Swilly Seals switched to Cascades.

Our away fixture against Swilly Seals from Letterkenny on the 29th March has now been switched to Cascades. Obviously this will save us a long journey in the coach saving all our energy for swimming! Further details will be given at a later date but make sure that squad members put this in their diaries.

Teletot Gala Portadown V Ballymena Saturday 23rd February

The second 'Teletot' gala takes place in 'Cascades' on Saturday against Ballymena. Would all swimmers please note that warm-up is at 5 o'clock and we hope to get things underway by half past. All those taking part should wear the official club swimwear, tracksuit/polo shirt if possible. Why not bring along a friend or relative to help cheer us on? We made a great start against Cookstown let's see if we can make it two wins in a row.

Free Water Sport's Bottles!

We have been advised by the management of 'Cascades' that in future swimmers should only bring approved water/drinks containers poolside. In order to encourage their use Cascades have offered a limited number of 'Sports Bottles' free of charge! These will be available from Monday 4th February 2008 and can then be used at any swimming session. The bottles are a handy size and of course can be used over and over again. We would also ask swimmers to bring proper fluids to swim sessions as many so called energy drinks are not really suitable. Please ask one of the coaches for advice on how to keep hydrated while training.

Stroke Development Meet 3

The third Stroke Development meet will take place on Sunday 2nd March in Dungannon. The events on this occasion will be 200m Backstroke, Breaststroke and Individual Medley. If anyone is interested in entering please see Paul Higgins no later than Wednesday 6th February. It would be good if we were well represented at this event as several of our swimmers have already made their mark.

Teletots win at Cookstown!

PASC teletot team got off to a winning start with an 'away' win at Cookstown on Saturday 2nd February. For several of our junior swimmers this was their first competitive gala but they forgot any nerves as soon as they hit the water. The young squad went ahead after the Medley relay event and despite missing several team regulars they went on to win by more than 70 points. Thanks to all parents who accompanied the team and to Cookstown themselves who were such friendly hosts.

Great effort at Armagh Championships!

A big thanks to everyone connected with the club who helped to make the day such a success both in and out of the pool. Our swimmers produced a great set of results and our points total of 456 was our best for several years. Although the individual performances of swimmers such as Daniel Chambers, Daniel Mc Quade, Eden Magwood, Mary McCann, Colum Tiffney, Beth Irwin, Chloe Black, Patrick McCannn, Johnny McMahon and others earned them several medals the support from other members of the team from all age groups was what made the day for the club. In an gala such as this where every finish counts it was good to see us represented in almost every final event. Perhaps the team spirit was easiest to spot in the relays. In the Medley relays Portadown took 2 Gold,4 Silver and 2 Bronze while in the Freestyle event we came away with 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze. Congratulatiions to gala winners Lurgan and we look forward to next year when Newry and Mourne will act act hosts. We must also thank all of our sponsors who helped us finance the day, their support was very much appreciated. Finally a special thanks to 'Tayto' who not only provided free crisps but also sent Mr Tayto along to meet and mingle with the crowd. What a great photo-opportunity!
